.AF ccTLD Policy

Rules for .AF Domain Registration

1. Definition

In this policy, the following definitions apply:

  • ".af DNS authority" means the Afghanistan Domain Administration Committee (as of November 2002, the Ministry of Communications of Afghanistan) supported by the Technical Focal Point, which has the right to grant licenses to use domain names in the ".af" domain.
  • "The registrar" means the organization or undertaking that enters into a non-exclusive registrar agreement with the .af DNS authority and obtains from the .af DNS authority the right to apply for the registration and renewal of domain names under the ".af" domain on behalf of its clients but for its own account.
  • "The license" means the person that applies for or has obtained a license from the .af DNS authority to use a particular name in the ".af" domain.

2. Acceptable Domain Names

The .af DNS authority will not accept the following domain names for registration:

  • Names that are identical to or confusingly similar to registered trademarks or service marks
  • Names that are contrary to public policy or morality
  • Names that would infringe on the rights of third parties
  • Reserved names as defined by the .af DNS authority
  • Names consisting solely of generic words that the .af DNS authority determines to be inappropriate for exclusive registration
  • Single-character domain names

Domain names must consist of letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), and hyphens (-), but may not begin or end with a hyphen. Domain names must be between 2 and 63 characters in length.

3. License

A .af domain name registration constitutes a license, not a property right. The .af DNS authority may terminate the license if the licensee:

  • Breaches any of the terms and conditions of the domain name registration, including non-payment of the license fee by the licensee's registrar
  • Provides false or misleading registration information
  • Uses the domain name in violation of applicable laws or regulations
  • Uses the domain name for activities that are contrary to public policy or morality

4. Fees and Payment

Domain name registration and renewal fees are set by PAMIRWEBHOST LLC in accordance with the pricing schedule available on our website. All fees are payable in advance. Domain registrations are non-refundable once processed.

Annual renewal fees are due before the domain expiry date. Failure to renew before expiry may result in the domain entering a redemption period, during which recovery is subject to additional fees. After the redemption period, the domain may be released for general registration.

5. Obligation to Have a Working Email Address

All .af domain licensees must maintain a valid, working email address on their account at all times. This email address will be used for all official communications including renewal notices, policy updates, and dispute notifications. PAMIRWEBHOST LLC is not liable for any consequences arising from a licensee's failure to maintain a working email address.

6. Agreement Between Licensee and Registrar

By registering a .af domain name through PAMIRWEBHOST LLC, the licensee agrees to:

  • Abide by all applicable .af DNS authority policies and this policy
  • PAMIRWEBHOST LLC's Terms of Service and domain registration terms
  • ICANN's Registrant Rights and Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Update registration information promptly when it changes

7. Privacy Policy

Registration information for .af domains is subject to PAMIRWEBHOST LLC's Privacy Policy. WHOIS data for .af domains may be publicly accessible as required by .af DNS authority policy. We offer WHOIS privacy protection for .af domains at $5/year where permitted by registry policy.

8. Representations and Warranties

By registering a .af domain name, the licensee represents and warrants that:

  • The registration of the domain name does not infringe on the rights of any third party
  • All registration information provided is accurate and complete
  • The domain will not be used for any illegal, abusive, or fraudulent purpose
  • The licensee has the right and authority to register the domain name

9. Change of Registration Rules

The .af DNS authority reserves the right to change registration rules at any time. PAMIRWEBHOST LLC will endeavour to communicate significant changes to existing registrants in a timely manner. Continued use of a .af domain name after rule changes constitutes acceptance of the new rules.

10. Dispute Resolution Rules

Domain name disputes involving .af domains are subject to the dispute resolution policy of the .af DNS authority. PAMIRWEBHOST LLC will comply with the outcome of any dispute resolution process initiated under applicable .af registry policies or ICANN's Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) where applicable.

To initiate a dispute, parties should contact the .af DNS authority directly or engage an ICANN-accredited dispute resolution service provider.

11. Rules for Domain Name Use

Licensees must use their .af domain names in accordance with all applicable Afghanistan laws and international regulations. The following uses are strictly prohibited:

  • Content that is illegal under Afghanistan law or international law
  • Phishing, fraud, or deceptive practices
  • Distribution of malware or harmful software
  • Spam or unsolicited bulk communications
  • Content that infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Content contrary to Afghanistan cultural or moral standards

12. Required Documents

For certain .af domain registrations, particularly for second-level domains (.com.af, .net.af, .org.af, .edu.af, .gov.af), additional documentation may be required to verify eligibility. This may include:

  • Business registration certificate (for commercial entities)
  • Government authorization (for .gov.af domains)
  • Educational institution accreditation (for .edu.af domains)
  • Valid photo identification for individual registrants

PAMIRWEBHOST LLC will notify registrants of any documentation requirements at the time of registration.

13. Disclaimer

PAMIRWEBHOST LLC makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the availability of any specific domain name. Registration of a domain name does not confer any intellectual property rights in the name. PAMIRWEBHOST LLC is not responsible for any disputes arising from the registration or use of .af domain names.

14. Indemnity

The licensee agrees to indemnify and hold harmless PAMIRWEBHOST LLC, the .af DNS authority, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to the licensee's registration or use of the .af domain name, including any third-party claims of trademark infringement or other intellectual property violations.
