Configure Outlook 2010 for use with Google Apps

FIRST STEPS

  1. Password: You must set a Google-hosted password before you can connect to a mobile device or third-party email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird.
    • Your eID password is separate from a Google-hosted password and the two should NOT be the same.
    • To set/reset your Google-hosted password, follow the “Change your Google Password” link at https://mail.google.com/ and follow the instructions.
  2. IMAP: Be sure to enable IMAP in your Google Apps account.
  3. Username: The format of your Gmail user name will be [email protected] rather than [email protected].
    • When setting up POP or IMAP access to your Google Apps mail account, make sure to enter your full email address ([email protected]) whenever you’re asked for your username or address.
